Mountain View Cottages offering rooms decorated in traditional style with fine Indonesian textile and furnished with teak wood and bamboos reproductions of antique furniture. Basically we have 4 rooms in total but we can help you find more rooms nearby (Tangkahan Inn with another 6 Rooms) if needed.
All of our bungalows for 2 or 3 person,. All rooms have musquito net, toilet, sink and shower (cold water only). The water comes directly from the mountain spring. Twice a day you can see from your room directly elephants jungle-patrol or elephantssafari on the riverbank of Batang Serangan River.

Tangkahan is combinations of vegetation and topography makes it a marvelous tourist tangkahan 5spot rarely found elsewhere. It is a small village on the border of Gunung Leuser National Park located in North Sumatra, situated at the junction of 2 rivers, the Buluh River and the Batang River.
Tangkahan specialized in eco-tourism activities, converging exactly in this zone, are typical of rainforest streams, with diverse varieties of vegetation and colorful rocks and Sumatra Elephants on their banks. The clear, bluish green river water againts the panoramic view creates a mystical atmosphere.

Tangkahan is a small rural settlement on the edge of the Gunung Leuser National Park. It is more isolated than Bukit Lawang and has not been developed to the same extent. Get up close and personal with Sumatra’s largest animal, the Sumatran elephant. One of four Asian elephant subspecies, only around 2000 Sumatran elephant survives and they are high risk of extinction. Experience the beautiful scenery of the rivers cape on the edge of the jungle.
