5 Days North Sumatra Tour Package – The volcanoes of Berastagi and the spectacular Lake Toba are not to be missed on a visit to North Sumatra. This tour is an ideal way to relax and explore after trekking or perfect for those interested in experiencing some of the different landscapes and cultures of North Sumatra.

Take an early morning hike up Sibayak volcano and be rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Sinabung volcano, which is the larger of the two peaks has seen some activity in recent years. If you can spare some more time it is possible to take a walk around this area to see the impact of its activity on neighbouring villages.

Lake Toba is one of Sumatra main attractions and among the most idyllic spots in Southeast Asia. Beaches are lined with pine trees and scenic mountains slopes surround the lake. Whilst in Lake Toba stay on Samosir Island where you can experience some of the fascinating Batak Toba culture.

Lake Toba is a huge caldera lake which is over 100km long and 30km wide. Not only is it the largest lake in Indonesia, it is the largest Volcanic Lake in the world. It was the site of a massive supervolcanic eruption that occurred 69,000 to 77,000 years ago, representing a climate-changing event. At 640 square kilometres (247 sq mi), Samosir is the largest island within an island, and the fifth largest lake island in the world. It also contains two smaller lakes, Lake Sidihoni and Lake Aek Natonang.

DAY 1 : MEDAN LAKE TOBA

arrive at kuala namu international airport welcome by lake toba travel. stop at licensed money changer (optional). proceed to parapat lake toba for 5-6 hours drive. today you drive along endless palm tree, rubber and cacao plantations and through the historic city of pematang siantar. enroute stop at patent shop to to buy local food products such as teng teng or ting ting (optional on personal expenses). Lunch at local resto siantar. After lunch visining dewi kwam im temple. Continued to parapat/lake toba , a town on the shore of serene lake toba from where you cross over the lake to the island of samosir. check-in hotel. Hunting sunset at pantai bebas parapat. Dinner will be served at local resto

DAY 2 : LAKE TOBA SAMOSIR ISLAND

after breakfast at hotel, it’s time to explore this magnificent island by visitng tomok village to see the ancient tomb of king sidabutar, then visit ambarita village to see the famous stone chairs & execution place of king siallagan. the last visit is simanindo to enjoy the bataks traditional ritual dances of the bataks tribe. the rest is your own program, you can take a beautiful walk or ride a bicycle (optional) or take a rest in hotel.

DAY 3 : SAMOSIR BERASTAGI HIGHLAND

after breakfast at hotel, back to parapat by ferry. continue to brastagi. enroute stop at simarjarunjung to enjoy ginger tea and fried bananas (personal expenses). stop at sipiso piso waterfall to see the magnificent 110 metres and an extraordinary view of lake toba from the north side. proceed to berastagi. upon arrival in brastagi, visit the central fruit market to buy tropical fruits, vegetables and flowers. check-in hotel.

DAY 4 : BERASTAGI MEDAN

breakfast at hotel and proceed back to medan. visit shwedagon pagoda replica at taman alam lumbini. upon arrival in medan vis it wood gallery . you will have a chance to visit maimoon palace to see the palace of the sultan of deli which was built in 1888.  afternoon check-in hotel.  enjoy the warm atmosphere of merdeka walk, city hall and pos office at your own leisure. then transfer to hotel for overnight stay.

DAY 5 : MEDAN TOUR

after breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a full day shopping at pasar petisah (traditional market) and sun plaza (branded shops). afternoon transfer to the airport for your flight back to next destination.
