Taman Simalem Resort,The Pearl Of Lake Toba

Taman Simalem Resort

Taman Simalem Resort – Situated in the clouds on a sprawling 206-hectare estate, Taman Simalem is a retreat for the senses. At 1,200 metres above sea level, the cool, crisp air immediately sets you at ease and the stunning view of Lake Toba will take your breath away.

This mountain resort was built to create a new and unique way to live holistically, with its organic farms and fruit orchards, tea and coffee plantations, and various accommodations that allow a commune with nature. Specially for families, school groups, friends and couples, the resort provides programmes and activities that allows you to get close to nature without feeling the pressures of everyday life. Feel recharged, revitalised and renewed.

In 2001, PT Merek Indah Lestari, together with a Singapore investment company discovered a plot of unutilised grassland and embarked on a journey to create Taman Simalem Resort, and put Lake Toba back on the tourism map of the world. The main idea behind the resort is to provide nature-based attractions that offer visitors the chance to experience first-hand agricultural and horticultural activities that have traditionally been the backbone of Indonesia’s economy.

Taman Simalem Resort

Taman Simalem Resort is a 206-hectare holistic tourism destination nestled in the mountains facing Lake Toba. We offer a choice of accommodation; villas next to a waterfall, modern hotel rooms on a hill, family rooms overlooking Lake Toba and a camping site in a pristine forest. Activities include nature and jungle treks, farm tours, outdoor adventure park, labyrinth, horse riding, archery, fishing, mountain biking, yoga and 9-hole golf.

The Flower Nursery
Flowers are nature’s way of adding a dash of colour and beauty. In addition to that we also know that flowers have great healing power, not just for the body but also for the mind. Our experts have cultivated a variety of species not only to enhance the landscape around our resort, but also to remind our visitors there’s always room for some colour in their lives!

Our experts will also be very happy to tell you about the plants growing in the nursery and if inspiration grabs you, why not get a pot and nurture some beauty yourselves!

ADVENTURE ZONE

Test your prowess on the climbing wall and various obstacles. Designed for various levels of ability, challenge yourself on this course and then reward yourself on the 125-metre flying fox that crosses the river and spans the entire outward bound course! Great fun for team building and fearless daredevils. Your safety is our top priority. You’ll don safety equipment and always be under the watchful eyes of our trained instructors.

Handicraft Center

Our handicraft centre features crafts that have long been a part of the old ways of life. You can even have a go at our weaving station and have a glimpse into how people used to live on this land.

Traditional Dance Performance

On weekends and public holidays, local villagers eagerly descend on our resort in their fine costumes and proudly perform their traditional Batak dances for our guests. Join in the fun and learn the meaning behind each dance.

Artist Workshop

Just next to the Handicraft Centre is our Artist Workshop. Local artisans channel their cultural background and creativity into turning natural materials like bamboos, stones and wood into useful daily products.

Taman Simalem Resort

Play your way around this challenging course and catch stunning views of Lake Toba, the rainforest and the rest of the resort. Unlike the championship courses you are accustomed to, we stick very strictly to our commitment to protect the environment. The imperfections you see are the result of a course that is maintained organically.

Gorat Ni Padang is a challenging 9-hole par 34 walking golf course set within the valleys of tea and coffee plantations. The more interesting holes at this course are hole 8 and 9 – the former, a Par-4 hole, offers golfers a magnificent view of Lake Toba from the tee box to the green and the latter, a signature Par-3 hole with the green nestled against the hillside tends to send balls into the ravine if you dont reach the green when you tee off. The tight fairways and blind greens are the other unique features of this course which requires accuracy more than distance play.

aught by certified yoga teachers, the complimentary yoga lessons (up to two times daily) are conducted at either outdoor on the stage of our open air amphitheater (weather permitting), against the majestic backdrop of Lake Toba or indoor Yoga Shala overlooking coffee and tea estate. Our teacher will patiently guide you through the various asana postures, helping you to relax and enjoy the process.

Embark on your tour of Samosir Island – the largest island within island in the world. Pass by small farms and local markets before starting on a scenic winding road to the jetty. A 30-minute ferry transfer will take you to the shore of the island. Visit the Batak Museum and enjoy the traditional Batak cultural performance. After lunch, visit the ancient Batak Tribal Village where the guide will explain and point out the unique practices of the culture. After some souvenir shopping, it’s time to return to the resort.

A scenic winding journey to the local fishing community of Tongging Village by the shore of Lake Toba. Learn about how the villagers live day to day with their traditional fishing farms. After lunch, drive up to admire the Sipiso-Piso waterfalls. Try the 300m trek down the steps to the foot of this magnificent waterfall but remember you will have to trek up to return to your comfortable stay at Taman Simalem resort
