Rindu Alam Hotel Bukit Lawang
The Rindu Alam Hotel is the only hotel in Bukit Lawang. In particular, rooms here are the only ones in the village with air conditioning. The hotel itself is located just below the village, on the banks of the Bohorok river. It’s a five minute walk downstream from the village entrance, below and opposite the Ecolodge.Rooms (40 in total) include television, fan and bathroom, and breakfast for two persons. There are also four family suites (both with river view), These feature two bedrooms (one with air con), living room, bathroom and TV. The hotel is popular with local tour groups, who visit mainly on weekends and public holidays. Guests should be aware that these groups often bring music facilities (speakers, keyboard, etc.), which can be noisy. Events should finish by 11pm.
My family travelled in Sumatra for 16 days on an amazing adventure. Total of 11 including 5 grandchildren. Staying at Rindu Alam Hotel for 3 nights over new year period was an unexpected highlight – Bukit Lawang’s most busiest 2 days of ‘year’. So many happy families enjoying this beautiful area. I booked directly with Mr Delta wonderful help organising all my rooms. Our 6 superior rooms great with adjoining doors, perfect with the children. Swimming in the river rapids at our front door wonderful. We did a full day jungle trek – excellent
Clean, spacious room even abit outdated but still acceptable, nice service &manners from the staff…get to river view right in front of our room, and aircon room so it’s not hot when we want to wind down
Nice hotel, good location, can also nice sitting outside. Aircon available, friendly hotel staff. Breakfast was good and diner too, with a lot of choices. We did the one day trekking trip, was good organized by Sumatra Adventures.
Bukit Lawang Tour Package
Bukit Lawang or known also as Bohorok is for the adventurous, accessible through Sumatra’s inland wilderness, crossing rivers and going over steep hills. The area lies south of the Mount Leuser National Park, a rehabilitation center for Orang Utans in Bahorok, which was inaugurated in 1973.
Orangutans living here are of Sumatra and Kalimantan origin. Seeing the orangutans is a magical experience. In Bukit Lawang, you can usually see them near the rehabilitation centre and at the feeding platform during the morning and afternoon feeding sessions. In Ketambe, you can go to 1-7 days treks into the jungle. The best experience is an encounter in the jungle where there are many semi-wild and wild animals. The wild orangutan can be difficult to spot unless you go deep into the jungle. There are also white and black gibbons that make an amazing noise calling out to each other, and Thomas Leaf monkeys. If you are lucky, you may be able to see hornbills, toucans, moon snakes, monitor lizards.
